Everything I Forget

Everything I Forget

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

Until I wish I could dip my fingers into the places where your teeth bit into my heart once again.

"

Each time you turn and walk away

I find myself searching

for the sunny days

I know

once ran through my veins.

Until I wish

I could dip my fingers

into the places

where your teeth bit into my heart

once again.

I think of all those conversations

where I believed

that every shadow

lying on the floor

made our lives exciting.

Like an ocean of wine

one drinks within a dream

full of memories,

capturing all

we have been fighting.

Reality seems to lie inside

everything I forget

about loving you

when it blends inside my heart

then hides.

And I can't tell

what is black or white

each time you walk away

and leave me feeling

only........

gray inside.

In the eyes of newfound love everything IS magic, even shadows on the floor, and as we come to our senses, as we wake up with that hangover, the splendors seem no more. I enjoyed your comparison of memories to monochrome, that maybe you could be forever happy living on memories of smiles, but knowing that you can't live in the past blends everything to gray. If it's any consolation, I see newfound love in every beautiful poem such as this, so thanks for keeping the magic alive for me and all on WC. Nice work.

Wow, that is an excellent poem. I love the last three lines- that feeling of bleakness is captured eloquently with your superb imagery. Good job!!

This is so lovely and unfortunately, relatable. Gray is only a good color for jogging pants....not life. Nice read.

"...every shadow on the floor made our lives exciting." Who hasn't been there? Superbly woven, Dear!

Such nostalgia, this is the higher worlds that you describe, what we cannot see but what we know is there, the deeper feelings of human beings.Being Apart is a terrible thing for lovers, but it holds a special place in the realm of Love, for the love we know on our current plane of existence, can easily oscillate between pain, Joy...contentment... emptiness. The Love on this Earth is often described very well in a Play like Romeo and Juliet. This Poem has an Authentic story of its own.It is Real
