Building Bridges Over the Silence of Disbelief

Building Bridges Over the Silence of Disbelief

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

Even if I nailed the windowsill of confusion shut, my heart would still care about tomorrow.........

"

In hopes someone would sing my thoughts
while breathing in
a tantalizing dance,
I painted an existence with hands full
of shining light.
I then waited for my heart’s desires
to come to life
running in my blood and spirit
like an army’s
last advance.

The Earth is something that holds my emotions
upon rippling waves
of healing winds,
streaming to me in an isolated dance.
Yet, sometimes
I get lost in the night sky
and find myself cursing the pain
sitting on the grounds of today’s truth
and circumstance.

My hands seek reasons to forgive
the silence of disbelief,
while catching secrets that have been
thrown away
and even if I nailed
the windowsill of confusion shut,
my heart would still care about tomorrow
but my mind could not be changed
nor swayed.

Wow... It's... I really don't have the words to sum up how powerful this is. Beautiful and loving, with an underlying bleak quality. It takes my breath away... and my capacity for sensible thought. You always, but always touch my mind and soul with your work. What more can be said

Often I feel this way. The outside goes on while my inside cannot change. Everyone around me may believe something, but I may believe another thing. They roll their eyes at my drama and how much I speak. I don't believe that I will change much.

.........I need to stop reading your writing. It's too good. I'm getting carried away. I always feel everything you write. It touches me deeply, because some of your poems remind me of myself. Truly beautiful. Inspirational. Very, very, *very* well done!

The second stanza made me think of what my mom always says, that being outside is good for the mental health. The earth has the "healing winds," but we can get lost in the night sky with the expanse of our pain.
Also, you make a valid point about the heart and the mind. Often they have two different desires..
This just was really powerful!
