Reality of Your Fantasy

Reality of Your Fantasy

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

Many hearts have spaces where the world has lit candles as a sacrificial move of their own heartbeat.

"

You delight in the presence of a moment in heaven
where you are invincible
within your colorful memories.
It is here you dance to sounds that move in reply
from hills you drove to the sea.

Do you realize that your laughter can melt hearts
but that it is no crime
to not sit alone in your pain?
That your mystique points a finger at your smile
and the frown in your eyes the same.

Many hearts have spaces where the world has lit candles
as a sacrificial move of their own heartbeat.
Yet, our own desire
to hold on tight to skeletons of discontent
readily admits defeat.

In days long past you filled two cups with ease.
Yet, when given the choice of filling three,
you set a trail ablaze
remembering the hidden reasons
why your hands should be set free.

Yes, you delight in the presence of a moment in heaven
where you are invincible
within your colorful memories.
I only hope you will not be forever snared
in the reality of your fantasy.

You have chilled the spaces in your heart by blocking
out the rays of life
when you sit alone in your rain.
None can claim to know your heart yet;
many are willing to share your pain.

There is a difference between reality and fantasy. Certainly, the two can seem one many times, but sometimes they must be separated so that each may play its own part. I can strongly relate to this poem. There were times these past two months where my fantasies threatened to intrude on my reality. Unfortunately, I had to separate them, to my dismay, yet I allowed each its own part in my life. I did not stop thinking of my fantasies; merely, they lay dormant and bubbling in thought deep inside my head.

"Do you realize that your laughter can melt hearts
but that it is no crime
to not sit alone in your pain?"

I believe that these three lines are the most striking. What is more painful than smiling when smiling is not an option?

In short, amazing job, Neva. You never fail to amaze me. :3

I wonder if shakespeare was as you describe in your last verse? He was said to be unfathomable. We certainly share the pain he evoked for us. But we don't know how he was. I like the notion of someone lighting candles in the heart.

None can claim to know your heart yet; many are willing to share your pain. I can't help but think of my recent fascination, psycho and sociopaths. They manipulate people but truly cannot feel actual emotions on a connective level because they either choose not to or can't at all. They are so complicated, so deceiving, that many are willing to share in the pain because they are tricked themselves, and no one can claim a deceiving heart.
Overall the poem is very interesting and the flow is superb. I particularly found the 3rd to last stanza compelling. Bravo!
