Hope's Perfume

Hope's Perfume

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

Written in response to the tragedy that is happening to a site that I and many others love and adore (stumbleupon)...........but there is always Hope.

"

Like forgotten lines dancing around love
that never bloomed,
knowing not where to start or end.
You will know when you look
at the blurs that form
when crossing the night
once again.

Stretching across the lines are flowers
that once planned to brush the lips
of all the answers
you need.
Yet, the smile on your face
could change the mind,
overwhelm the heart
of destiny.

In the distance I see rain
coming down from the air of dreams
full of laughs and smiles
taking flight.
I stare for such a long time
knowing it could all soon go away,
and my heart cries
as I write.

Forgotten lines cut into winds
that wander
but have always been right there
dancing around love
that could bloom.
Without moving far off
or crossing the night
we can still
smell
Hope’s perfume.

I know there's a sombreness about this poem coupled with grains of hope but forgive me if I can't help smilling over it's beauty. The wording gives me a sense of an arrangement of flowers- very appealingI know there's a sombreness about this poem coupled with grains of hope but forgive me if I can't help smilling over it's beauty. It,s beautiful, but has a sad feeling to it. And the ending says it all, gives us all hope!

I love this. I feel a sense of doubt but at the same time you still haven't given up on love. I also notice how you revert back to old memories that possibly keeps your hope alive.

It's always a shame and loss when others don't understand or choose not to understand the value of a monument- be it a place, time, saying, or what have you. The heartbreak and grief are real...sadness combined with hope. Sweetly, tenderly expressed....

As I walked through the valley of death....
I feared no evil. For I saw a glimmer of light
on the other side that guaranteed my safety.

Love it!

Excellent. Gives that dreamy yet thought filled feel. I especially like the second stanza.

First of all excellent choice of photo.

And a very well written poem. The theme itself means that amidst the gloom you still nurture hope. And what is light without darkness and is joy if there is no pain and what is hope if there is no gloom.

I also like the narration style you used.

And finally wonderful choice of title. Hope is intangible. So is perfume, but still but adding the two together, you give substance to the hope. The hope is elusive, but the smell is what you can grasp at.

And just like perfume wafts off, I can almost see the hope pervading the mind...
