Sea of Obsession

Sea of Obsession

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

When did you become a stormy sea of obsession? Confining in all of your ways.............

"

When did you become a stormy sea of obsession?

Confining in all of your ways
Renouncing all moves in any direction
When one does not yield to the calls, you play

Attempts to govern unclipped wings can be exhausting
The very thought is gravely insane
Yet, you still despondently try to cage in free spirits
With those borders you set and maintain

You reveal uncertainty in your own validation
In the faith you hold in your own
When you desperately try to close off the sky
From free spirits thirsting to roam

Did you know your borders are guarded by insecurity?
They are useless and protected in vain
Take a look inside the cages you obsessively provide
Not a single free spirit remains

Author's Note

Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
There are those who try to control the ones they claim to love, to limit their contact with family and friends. Insecurity is generally their reason and they often find their bird cannot be caged.

aaah, i came across such people, dear ones, unfortunately, sometimes caged birds, when they gain liberty again, after suffocation, they prefer to alienates themselves to their loved ones, as said in this poem!

a lovely poem, you passed on a sensible message Neva!

how sad when relationships are tied down by the inability to see that love is more than controlling the freedom it is meant to be...nice work Neva

Dark indeed. And we know why the caged bird sings.

Beautiful as always, but a beauty that describes an awfulness. But you could describe Ebola and make it seem seductive. That is your knack. You draw the reader in with the beauty and reveal truths that they would not ordinarily wish to look at. Here, insecurity and manipulation.

When we try to completely control everything around us it come exhausting. Anxiety can make people like that. I know I have it. I have learned over the years how to relax and simply let things go. Relationships are hard and delicate and sometimes we can push away the ones we love and want the most.

Amazing! We all need to be our own self...not allow others to impose their will on us...not easy when you love someone I guess..this is beautiful Neva! xx

I so agree with this Neva.. an excellent expressive poem. No one has the right to cage a free bird.. If you admire it...if you want it...then fly with it..
But don't sit back and condemn it for it's beauty and it's ability to fly..xo
