Underneath A Whisper of Darkness

Underneath A Whisper of Darkness

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

Softly murmuring in lines of ink across the page.................

"
Underneath a whisper of darkness, lies a candle burning
Fear and suspicion caress the flame
Invisible hands of time lay at rest and waiting
Softly murmuring in lines of ink
Across the page

The sound of scars echo in the whisper of darkness
Breathing in the essence of the flame
While time rolls words in the crystal ink of pain
Upon the pages of the heart
That still remains

Experience fades to colors that whisper in the darkness
Softly playing with edges of the flame
As time slowly spreads the ink across the pages
Of an existence eagerly awaiting
To live again

Underneath a whisper of darkness, lies a candle waiting
Within a heart held prisoner by a mind
Caressed by the scars of fear and suspicion
So deeply engraved by invisible
Hands of time

wonderfully chosen words penned just perfectly..suggesting that something else be added or changed..you know Me always wanting to improve...
anyways..
Underneath a whisper of darkness, lies a candle burning
Fear and suspicion caress the flame
Invisible hands of time lay at rest and waiting
Softly murmuring in lines of ink
Across the page

The sound of scars echo in the whisper of darkness
Breathing in the essence of the flame
While time watches words on the pen
slide resolutely down it's shaft
Spreading the crystal ink of pain
Upon the pages of the heart
That still remains..

what if?or is it still what you wish to say?

fear and suspicion are sometimes wise ..sometimes misplaced..time waits for us to choose,no we choose and time goes on leaving us with our choice . pain causes us to make choices we would not have made . hopefully experence helps us make the right choice.

I love how all of your work gets me to stop and think. The metaphors create a clear image and the words always ring true; I often find myself thinking back to your poetry throughout the rest of my day because it leaves a footprint, so to speak. Excellent work as always. I particularly liked this one.

This is nice, and the flow is so smooth in it's delivery, nice images to go along with the subtle scars...

For me, this is a subtly sad poem about how the heart, even the most loving heart, can harbor scars deep enough to affect love in the present-- Deeply moving for me and my scarred heart.

Thought very enjoyable to read last stanza sounds mysterious. Candle caressed by scars of fear and suspicion, how it is? it refers to some subtle feelings?

All humans have there light side and dark side... the irony is when our light side takes over it brings out more of our fears but also guides our dreams... another really beautiful poem.

Your work is even beautiful when you talk about the other side of love. Our past hurts can affect us, as our minds tend not to forget we forge a mental wall of protection over our hearts but in the end we isolate it from human touch. I don't know which is worst to be hurt or not to feel at all to me they are both bad. Wonderful is your pen as you ink your magic for us.
