Crashing Over Understanding

Crashing Over Understanding

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

No one gets tangled in an answer that pleases their heart..........

"

Crashing over understanding that spreads images with an open hand
Looking through frightened eyes that fate has up and tasted
The tenderness that teases is felt in the weeping wind
But only for those waiting lips not yet painted

What if we knew in our hearts that what remains wrapped around us
Is living within the warmth of our skin as a voice that plays
Those audible choices that live to quicken our senses
And rise up to us now in an endless gaze

Impossibilities come by in the distance, holding out greedy fingers
As instruments that would fall in love with a heart of stone
And the catch of the day, is whatever can be done
With a misguided love, one never owns

Yet no one gets tangled in an answer that pleases their heart
It does not really help if you offer your voice of dissent
Their own understanding is all they can ever see
Leave them be, perhaps it was meant

Before I can even read a word I have to comment on the compelling image..."Incredible!"

This is profound and leaves me with chill bumps all over...Truth is sublime.

This poem reminds me of how we should give everyone their space sometimes, and let things be. Like the saying 'everything happens for a reason.' A nicely described and written poem, it really shows the beauty of thinking. :)

love that picture - you pick the perfect ones to compliment your pieces! - the last stanza has the punch I think - leave them be, they will only see what they want to see - though I really liked this line - "As instruments that would fall in love with a heart of stone" - nice job!

This line stands out to me. As instruments that would fall in love with a heart of stone. It makes a strong statement and the whole poem is done really well

An understanding that we are as blind to ourselves in as many ways as the next person. All we can be is to be willing to see what comes from the darkness of our blind spots...not an easy calling, Neva, as you well know. A most perceptive poem; the most perceptive part the last two lines. Your routine excellence, your excellency.

I'll repeat the oft quoted mot, "None are so blind as those who will not see". Some of us live happily in our state of unknowing. we feel deeply, give generously, take thankfully, hurt to the core of our being, yet we are numb and dumb because our love is misguided. We love a stone...an immovable stone of logic that grows larger into a rock more impenetrable each day with cynicism. Impossibilities are not always greedy...sometimes they are soft hearts misperceived and misunderstood.

Excellent piece, Neva.

what a question to ask..."What if we knew in our hearts that what remains wrapped around us

Is living within the warmth of our skin as a voice that plays

Those audible choices that live to quicken our senses

And rise up to us now in an endless gaze"

answered"Yet no one gets tangled in an answer that pleases their heart

Their own understanding is all they can ever see

Leave them be, perhaps it was meant"
