Black Silk and Promises That Lie

Black Silk and Promises That Lie

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

Replacing You and I................

"

A promise in a black silk dress does cartwheels in your mysterious world

While you stare blinded by the light that plays within your desire
You can choose what will come to be your comfort
Or what will hold your soul’s own essence
In its needful fire

When you are surrounded by the tokens of what you want to hold
Can you just go on forever and never look at anything else
Then find yourself fumbling for precious memories
Of nights before a promise in a black dress
Rearranged love’s wealth

Did you know a fire-breathing dragon lies resting within your soul
Preparing slowly for a number of years to fill your skies
With the glistening black silk of promises that lie
Sweet words spinning fiery cartwheels
Replacing you and I

Wow. I love the feeling I get from the imagery here. All the black silk and cartwheels. Kind of mysterious.
I can't quite put into words what this poem makes me think of, or my interpretation. I think I'll just sit here and ponder it a little more..:)

This poem's descriptions are filled with fire and passion. Nice comparison to a black silk dress. I like the title and the picture.

straight to the point on this one Neva...creatively written and exposing the way love can trace a smokescreen of illusion and destroy it within a moment of desire...

Amen.. I think your poem and the picture are both amazing.. One of my favorite lines is "fire-breathing dragon lies resting within your soul" that just stands out on it's own to me.. I love it..xx

Just a magical and mysterious poem. I especially liked the lines:
"Of nights before a promise in a black dress
Rearranged love’s wealth"
It flowed amazingly, and was portrayed beautifully. Great write! :)

Right you are! The grass is not always greener, it just seems that way. Some always want what they don't have, that is, until they actually GET it. I loved this poem Neva, you never disappoint.

A darkened hall way of pieces that lurk and pounce on a reader, well done!

The grass is almost always not greener on the other side while the grasses appearance may be deceiving, and enticing it does most often lie.

Wonderful piece! Love the art which reminds me of my stunning aunt dancing flamenco! The words in this piece does shed light on the blinding light and I did so enjoy this read.
