Can you not come back from where you hide...............
Can you not come back from where you hide, do you even know Up from the ashes where your fire once glowed Do you see the hunters as they search for the flame There among what is perfectly resting In an intricate sea of blame
You ask me if the coast is clear while looking over my shoulder And I wonder if you are trapped in an ancient painting That holds no answer and amounts to nothing the same As what will come tomorrow or today In your dreams awaiting
In the morning, will you be curious when you hear the sound Of faces growing old and emerging silver-tongued Will your ears think all daylight has gone when they sing Of golden pleasures that came round When you were young
Can you not come back from where you hide, let sorrow be Feel your heart travel outside of confusion Forget about the hunters that search for the flame That intricate sea of blame is merely A manifested illusion
I love the way you use art and nature in your poems, the use of colour and precious metal in the third verse really adds to the richness of the imagery and the last line is just sensational. I love how your work so often seems to directly engage the reader, that makes the poetry even more intense and poignant. You're always a delight to read.
Wow!
Neva, I love this.
Blame is one of my favorite rants.....
in particular the line;
'you ask me if the coast is clear, while looking over my shoulder..'
lol.... I swear, that is the best articulation of what us humans call 'trust' that I have ever heard.
Great!
Oh Neva, this one does truly strum my heart strings and teaches me a bit about myself, especially with your ending, "The intricate sea of blame is merely a manifested illusion." I really needed this perspective today and thank you for getting this one out from between your ears for in so doing I am lighter somehow. I appriciate your insight and delicate yet clearly painted honesty.
