Do you believe that your tongue can taste all my fears..................
Yes, from grief and pain I wanted to run And turn into liquid numb But I heard the cry of lightning Ride in on a black horse With much more fight to come
I stand here, appearing to you as frail In all your sudden thoughts When each day low, low worries Do not lie underneath Any of the dreams I bought
Do you believe that your tongue Can taste all my fears And when the time comes You will see me spinning down My own stair of tears
Now you go ahead and listen For a sad, sad sigh But you should never forget I have heard the cry of lightning Her fight is in my eyes
wow,this is really powerful neva,
'Do you believe that your tongue
Can taste all my fears
And when the time comes
You will see me spinning down
My own stair of tears,'
this is amzing!
also the last line,
'I have heard the cry of lightning
Her fight is in my eyes,'
this is going in my fav poems!
great write!
Seems you feel the space around you and become part of it when at your lowest ebb and maybe - yes, find yourself helplessly absorbed into some powerful chain of events. But then, then, suddenly from somewhere, you reach for the instinctive magical power in yourself, hence, ' I have heard the cry of lightning ~~ Her fight is in my eyes ' You are your own lightning conductor ..
I am reminded of a bumper sticker I once saw..."Scars are tattoos with a better story". Warriors have their dark nights of the soul like the rest of us; they transmute the fear and sorrow into rage to feed the fight. "The cry of lightning"...that's a poem in itself. Thank you, Athena.
