Moving the Mountain of You

Moving the Mountain of You

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

Where secret pleasures and heartbreak use their fingers to part that which I refuse to leave..............

"

You held me captive as you carried opportunity
to the door where secret pleasures
and heartbreak
use their fingers to part
that which I refuse to leave.

However, you were not familiar
with the faith that travels
outside of your dark seas
and you could not continue
to hold me down.

I have seen the fields
where time casts uncertainty
while binding pain to my wings
designed to clearly stop
my sun from rising.

Still, my skies were merely overcast
for awhile and those clouds
did not follow me
or any of my memories
of what I believe.

All of my life my bones have traveled
all through this world
singing a song of silence
into the air I breathe
moving mountains.

Can you truly ask who really cared
if the ones I moved
were carved flawlessly into place
by secret pleasures
and heartbreak?

When you held me captive
every idea I have ever known
to be true remained conscious
outside of the pain
you bound to my wings.

Yet proudly I stood
and repeated the words of my song
until I moved
the mountain called you
from my dreams.

This is spectacular. This particular stanza reminded me of a suffocating boyfriend or someone in general who keeps you held down and you can't do anything about it. However, when I got to the end where it says "from the mountain called you from my dreams", I thought of this person who isn't real, but is good. The person who held the speaker down was really just his or her own mind. The speaker overcame an internal struggle and moved a mountain. I find this inspirational, and that is just what this poem said to me. Needless to say, I loved it! :)

I was first of all catpivated by the image... and then as I moved into the words I had this sense of the strength of your inner spirit coming through... that nothing - even the closest union - could crush that spirit... that was able to move on when the mountain stood utterly still... I moved into the words and was moved...

"you were not familiar

this gave me such a strange deja-vu feeling,...and this:
"Can you truly ask who really cared
if the ones I moved
were carved flawlessly into place
by secret pleasures
and heartbreak?" is absolutely brilliant!!

I liked this piece it reminded me of the ocean and how the waves break on the shore and then go back to the sea, that is how the flow of the poem felt to me. A good piece
