On nights when silence casts fire into my heart............
My silken lips part in memory of perfection that I have seen On nights when silence casts fire into my heart This is when passion within a fading torch Burns bright as I set it free To roam in spaces so very different Than I remember
There lifted up from all I do, while I am looking back in time Is everything I put in the shadows close behind And I can hear the perfection shared Softly beckoning to my soul like no other From within the ages of a love Once at rest
My lips once sung of everything we were, yes, they told all Of the nights I sought out your warmth in silence When we were like trees that swayed In winds that did not love our lack of weakness Or how we refused to admit We were mortals
A fading torch I think not, the world was merely changing The reflection of our passion still remained My silken lips now part in memory of love’s perfection As I see our hearts turn inward To roam in spaces so very different And yet the same
Typical Neva, this poem! A touch of magic, a dash of longing and the use of exactly the right word at the right time. I see your love of refrains shine through in this, as you tweak them to mean different things in different lines. Beautiful poetry, once again.
When we were like trees that swayed
In winds that did not love our lack of weakness
Or how we refused to admit
We were mortals
Oh, Neva your words are beautiful and they allow me into your world to see what you once had and the love that once was and sometimes in your memories still is! Once again you never fail to make me feel with your words! Beautiful! Thank you for sharing friend!
