Forever is a Mystery

Forever is a Mystery

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

Forever is a mystery that lets you cultivate its reasons as you age...........

"

When running through ideas that I defend sometimes my emotions
Hear footsteps that are only noticed within my hours
Sliding in between what I know in life to be nailed to a stake
And what lies miles away desperately trying
To be heard and found

Within stories told in dark passages there lie many simple questions
Whose answers would break your tender heart if told
Yet what could cause your feet to become a victim of stillness
Could also make them wander into places of pain
Filled with indifference

Forever is a mystery that lets you cultivate its reasons as you age
Embracing our empty glasses with everything, we are
Until we want to escape into what is already gone once again
As the ground beneath our feet becomes contemptible
Even as we see it change

I am left breathless, as today becomes a memory I hold in fame
As those footsteps travel distances I do not understand
I cry as I find I still defend those ideas I am running through
Because what I thought was nailed to a stake
Has now slipped loose

If forever is a mystery; not-forever may be a bigger one.
One consistent thing about changing times and changing values, is that most people don't start moving--in any direction--until they're forced to. Humans certainly are comfortable with what's familiar, with what they perceive to be nailed down.
These issues and many more does Neva regularly weave into her soaring accounts of deep yearnings,
Thank you, Neva.

Sometimes we find ourselves trapped into life, going with the not always happy flow, and then, we have to make decisions, not easy. Staying still is safe but it can turn us to stone, moving on can be dangerous, mentally, physically, so - what to do? We live for a second or we travel on and use that forever life we're given, however long or short .. the choice is an individual's right, it's taking chances - one way or another.

Your words flow on and on into that forever and are near tragically lovely, mine are how i interpret your poem .. there could be conflicts here, but, to each our own I hope. :)

life's mysteries...some say foreverness can be lived in one second, others say foreverness is always one second away...:)...

You've captured the feeling of the struggle for one's center of balance.
The spiritual side of this poem is like diving into another world.

Sometimes I change because I see the light...mostly I change when I feel the heat. Have to risk the pain or die of stagnation. Ah, the joys of free will and choices. Thank you for the introspective write, Neva...it leads me back to myself. As do most spiritual journeys.

Very thoughtful, thought provoking poem. I like the even flow of thought and the subtle visuals you use to gently guide the reader along.

Yes forever is a mystery. We don't know what it holds, but we can guide our way to how we want it to be. Great poem Neva!

powerful last two lines...this is thoughtful writing...change can be a struggle, but it is the only thing that is constant in this life. change floods are thoughts and memories and questions surface...I thought this was extremely well written...

I read this a as a struggle to stay within the flow of life , caught in the eddys' of decision as we are confronted with realizations found in the rush of change .
great writing .
