Revelation

Hello my sweet friend.
It seems I have been asleep forever.
My eyes have been closed for numerous ages
And have not seen your heart.

Your heart is so bright and achingly beautiful
That I must go back to sleep
And turn away as to continue looking
Could pull me into places I am afraid to go.

I have seen you with my eyes closed
As you are in front of me.
Yet I have not seen you as you truly are
With my eyes and heart wide open.

This revelation strikes chords in my soul
That I never knew existed.
How could I have been so blind?

I must take leave of your heart's beauty
And find refuge in my sleep
As remaining here in this revelation
May change my destiny in such ways
As I am not prepared to see.

This come across as a modern story of the beauty and the beast. The 3rd stanza alone speaks so true about this,
"I have seen you with my eyes closed
As you are in front of me.
Yet I have not seen you as you truly are
With my eyes and heart wide open." - She knows he exists, but she doesn't know the real him.

Lovely poem, I got the impression that your poem had spiritual intentions. If not, it could. It's beautiful.
