Shadows Across a Tear-Stained Floor

Shadows Across a Tear-Stained Floor

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

Shattered windows and broken doors, cast shadows across a tear-stained floor.

"

Shattered windows and broken doors,

cast shadows across a tear-stained floor.

Broken dishes speak to silent walls

while unheard words cry out

that should be understood by all.

Nothing's left to see in these eyes of mine,

because life has frozen

all I ever hoped to find.

I write and search for a stream of memories,

but find no words that won't scar me.

My hands reach out with a shaking pen

composing a message in the dark once again.

Tonight I scratch on my skin

words of love

that should have never been.

Immense wretchedness, utter sorrow, drips from every line.. so sad, so finely created. A love and emotion like this is devastating, spaces and sides with different rules -if there are any at all.. perhaps not. You've always had a poet's true reason for placing words just so.. sighhh

Is a while since you...

Sad and beautifully conveyed , the imagery of destruction in relationship and death of love in the heart. Lovely to read you again.

This is raw and on the edge, you have created a strong atmosphere in your shattered world. You have my adrenalin pumping

A truly heart-wrenching piece. It is the damage done on the inside that is often so much harder to repair than "broken doors" and "broken dishes." The emotions conveyed here are simply...wow. Thank you for sharing this.

You've captured the emotional elements of this devastation really well, the practical clearing up and refitting the windows , I guess is a another emotional turmoil and another poem all together, fine work, well done!

Neva, I have missed reading you. As usual, every word is gold. However, none more-so than those of the last stanza. You never fail to leave the reader gripped and twitching with physical eyes asquint yet inner eyes widened, head cocked, ears pricked, and skin prickled. Xo.
