Truth - Where Happiness Hides

Truth - Where Happiness Hides

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

Alone, becomes the key to your sanity, yet burns a hole in the palm of your heart.

"

Towering boxes full of days

are hidden

by the lies you hold inside

your feelings.

They whisper louder

with each year that passes

sending your happiness

a reeling.

Alone, becomes the key

to your sanity,

yet burns a hole

in the palm of your heart.

You find yourself angry

at everything,

trapped,

as you linger

while your world

falls apart.

You have fallen asleep

inside the shadow

of loneliness

those towering boxes

provide.

Tip them over with the truth

resting inside you

and wake

where happiness hides.

I hurt with you in anger and pain by lies that whisper and in the refuge of your aloneness that only burns and in your anger your world falls apart. All this is hidden in"towering boxes full days" So with fresh evocative imagery you paint the dilemma. What is the solution? "Tip them over with the truth"we are advised. What is the truth? That is the perennial question.

The circle of the box image in the opening and closing is powerful. The parts (images) cohesively create a whole that make an artistic poem.
Thank you. When I the truth I will let you know!

It is always a delight to read your poetry. Thanks for sharing your treasures. "where happiness hides" Sometimes we forget where our "happy" comes from. You pen with the utmost precision the emotions and feelings we disguise. Lovely write.

This is really lovely. It puts a different metaphorical twist on the power of truth. I like the image of lies in boxes waiting to be toppled and their ceaseless voices to finally be silenced.

Tis strangely astounding how we keep certain memories and bits stored because they're a deeply entrenched part of our history. Yet, there they lie, doing no more than reminding us of hurt and stress and all the negatives we need to be rid of. And so comes that moment, when whooooff, off comes the lid or lids and out in a rush goes those big black hurts.. leaving space for the far better to come. Your words always embrace thoughts, they're more than metaphors and all that literary technical stuff, they're accurate and shaped sublimely well. Thank you, this is a sort of moral .and beautiful .. ' Tip them over with the truth .. resting inside you '
