Climbing Mountains to Catch the Moon

Climbing Mountains to Catch the Moon

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

I wonder if they have folded their hearts' around an ache no one is able to see.

"

Some try to convince themselves,
this is the rarest of sensations
as they walk along the edges of a place
where their name is whispered by a spring
that flows love to all.
Still, we wonder
if it takes a truly perfect heart
beating softly
inside of a self-built cocoon
to be inspired,
hear the call.

Does nightfall build the pressure felt
of those who fall
until they lower their expectations
find they are climbing mountains
hoping to catch
the silvery moon?
Is it not obvious that these hearts
will travel fearlessly
always bowing their heads
and closing their eyes,
in hope true love
will blossom soon.

I wonder if they have folded their hearts'
around an ache
no one is able to see.
Or if this is only the beginning
of recognizing myself
in their mirror.
This rare sensation I feel
walking along the same edge
is merely erasing each step
fearlessly taken.
The silvery moon
has not....
grown any nearer.

Yet, it has not grown any farther either. Each step we take leads us to our destiny, whether it be to grasp the moon or fall deeply into the throws of true love, we walk. Often the ledge is narrow and at times a bit scary, but listen to your heart, hear that spring whispering your name and you will find that reaching the moon becomes a much easier task. Very though provoking and beautiful.

This is really deep and dark. It's made me think about things. Especially the last 3 lines. That's a great way to end a poem!

I wish I could hear yours dear one. XX
...folded hearts, yes...walls we've built, yes...fear paralyzes the souls ability to reach out without concern for "self". The key then is to give without expecting anything in return...This was a great write Neva....it speaks volumes of the pearson and poet you are:)

OMG this is sensational. I could have written every word as I feel each one. Neva there are no answers we have to find a place to feel safe. I am lucky; I have found mine.

Seeing and sensing the number of holes in your soul that love might fill makes it seem even more imperative to gain. In some cases I think our want and need for that love makes our perception of it even farther away. However God is love, and love created love for you. .............Wonderful wonderful poem, outstanding, Thanks for sharing

i think when we are younger we are too rash with love. High expectations, and usually disappointment because our significant other could never really live up to those expectations.

if only we could mature before we mature...then we would be more tolerant, accepting...and we could love a lot better than we usually do with our younger, immature hearts.

The idea of folded hearts in lovely, Neva. I have to say I relate to this poem as well. I think many of us have fearlessly grasped at the silvery moon to only find ourselves with a handful of dust. I think embracing the ache is the best way to see our reflection.
Such a beautiful job. The imagery is very nice. I really enjoyed it :)
