The Sun Can Hear Thunder

The Sun Can Hear Thunder

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

Since the beginning of my pulse I have been honored with good days that left me grateful.........

"

I have known that the sun can hear thunder
and how its brightness
can be unfathomable,
like my dreams.
Since the beginning of my pulse
I have been honored
with good days
that left me grateful
inside of the sweetness
never stifling.........
within all it means.

When midnight kisses the glass
that morning has already
tasted......
Like a thirsty spider
crying out........
for the rain.
All of my senses are
swept through
knowing, my words don't fall
on deaf ears......
or stand there,
all wasted.

No, you cannot know how I'm feeling
but that doesn't mean
our world's stopped spinning.
The sun.......
can still hear thunder
in all the ways you love me.
You lift me up
in the midst of a storm.
All my senses are swept through
my words stand in stillness
a storm's ending......
is love's beginning.

I doubt very seriously if the sun could hear at all that it would hear anything above its own conversion of mass to energy...however I did enjoy the poem. Love can be a storm...but I'd prefer the comfort of old jeans and favorite books and patchwork quilts...warm wood fires...soft candle glow and steaming hot baths myself. It takes awhile for love to get there and I'm not as patient as I was when young. Still it might be worth suffering a storm or two. Your writing is always wonderful.

Beautifully written, the words embrace as you travel through time and space circling the earth patiently waiting, watching the clouds part to see a rainbow.

Thank you Shia :)
The sun, physical source of all life on this planet, probably does many things we do not now suspect; may be slightly different than what we've been led to believe.
But, of course, you speak poetically, so you can make of Ole Sol what you will.
This piece is not only richly imaged, it's lovely and fervently hopeful, as well.
Wonderful, Neva!

Thank you Dear Frank and also for sharing the Spanish word for Sun :)

very nice, this is super:
"When midnight kisses the glass
that morning has already
tasted......
Like a thirsty spider
crying out for the rain" --- powerful, fantastic & like lightning in the mind. :)

Do you read Arthur Rimbaud? :)

I like all of the storm imagery and symbolism. I also relay like the ending and the sense of clarity that it gives. This is a nice metaphoric journey through the stages of a relationship.

What's more awe inspiring than the moon, the sun and love's beginning...beautiful piece of work, kudos.
