Wasted

Wasted

A Poem by Chandra Lee
"

Was going through a bit of a slump with a guy I like. Wanted to vent those emotions out somehow, and thus came this poem.

"

Was it all just wasted time?

It seems like I’ve committed a crime.

I spent so much time on you,

Hoping that I’d finally get the romance I was due.

But it seems like I was way, way wrong;

And here I thought I could be strong.

You say you like me, and that may be true,

But you’re not supposed to leave me feeling blue.

Why you ignore me like you do, I’ll never know.

I just know most of my heart hopes you never go.

I don’t know where to turn to, I’m quite torn.

I can’t help feeling so forlorn.

Will this feeling ever end?, I can not say.

I just know that when it does, it will be my brightest day.

Poems that go out of there way to rhyme tend to not be that good in my opinion, but this one is the exception. The rhyming added a little something extra instead of dragging the poem down. I really got a sense of sorrow while reading this. I hope venting those feelings helped you out. Overall, a good, well written poem.

The poem throughout seems self-pitying and self-deprecating, until the last line, which presents a sort of "light at the end of the tunnel". Pretty good.
