Petals

Petals

A Poem by Chandra Lee
"

A short poem about inner beauty told through a Sakura blossom petal.

"

A single petal falls to the ground,

it's beautiful pink pigments never lost.

The blue sky and the green grass around it seem to blush,

for it's beauty is like no other petal from the tree.

The petal remains on the ground,

various passer-bye too afraid to disturb it's peaceful beauty.

Time wears on, and the other petals start to wilt,

their surfaces turning from pink to rust,

their skin no longer whispering,

but shouting as they're crushed.

The one petal still remains, however,

untouched by time itself.

It's flesh is still velvety soft,

it's voice still that of a whisper.

Even when the grass underneath it turns to dust,

and the winter winds ravage the land,

the petal still remains unmarred,

for true beauty can last a lifetime,

while the rest will surely fade into the background.

Do you think I depicted everything correctly? Does this need a little work?
