Let You Love Me

Let You Love Me

A Poem by CHANDNI SETHI

Some days
I hate myself so loudly
every voice of love around me
has drowned out and faded.
Some days
I just sit in silence
with my inner child as she cries
but I never tell her that it's going to be okay.
Being strong is all I know
and I can't let her think
that it's okay to put the baggage down..

A boy I loved once told me
"I hope you let someone love you someday"
but every knight that tried
was a dragon in disguise..
I cry at night sometimes
when I think of the dragons
and how I can no longer tell apart
a foe from a friend or
a lover from a passing devil.

I hope the young me someday
will hold me and I'll hold her back and say
"You can put the weight down now,
together we will find our way."

Dear Chandni. Love teaches us many things. One is sadness. I like the John Donne words. "We do not find love. Love will find us."
"I hope the young me someday
will hold me and I'll hold her back and say
"You can put the weight down now,
together we will find our way."
I had the same wish many moons ago and thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.
