The Long Haul

The Long Haul

A Poem by CHANDNI SETHI

I may look defeated,
But I'm far from weak.
A setback so strong,
Deferring my only dream.
The pain that I once couldn't show,
Is ever so alive in my eyes.
& there is no shame in being hurt,
There is no fear of not being right.
I will lose heart but I will not fail,
For failures are those who don't go on,
But this is an endless stride,
An infinitely long path to walk on.
The mistakes I shall make,
The pain I shall embrace,
There will be no hiding, for at the end of the day,
I have myself to face.
I shall rise through the dimness soon,
In the light I shall stand tall.
So before you deem my worth, remember,
I'm in this for the long haul.
