FearA Story by Chandini HemdevSelf explanatoryLife may not always seem fair, life comes with its set of rules and fear with its set of consequences! A nature versus nurture phenomenon! How we promise our self’s about nothing being impossible and how doing all that we wish would be useful to us! But small do we know that the things we are confident about maybe done, but the things we hope and plan to do, but ever fail, leave us with no tomorrow! Hoping against hope, we fight through our agony, the dreams we live crashed by our fear and brutality! The happiness we wish to live, packed with sadness, come to us in all our fright, making us realize we aren’t right! Fearing an insect or an animal, fearing a deadline or a carnival! Life has its own mysterious ways of showing us what we fear, of showing us what we even need to fear! Fear being a 4 letter simple word, still brings the adrenal rush of a million words! Fear is a contemplation of emotions, it being anticipation, or anxiousness, nervousness or full blown anxiety! Fear can be depicted in any form in The Lord of the Flies fear is depicted as the civilised fear of consequences, displayed only when children are seen as young civilised people who tend not go astray because of their parents. The final two are of a different nature, with those fears being the loss of power, the fear of rejection and the fear of being in the minority. All of these different fears then relate back to our character, which influences our attitudes and behaviours. One of the greatest emotions that controls the way any person thinks in certain situations, the way a person tends to deal with people and the surroundings depends on the things that the person fears! In the famous Shakespearean play Macbeth, it was Lady Macbeth’s fear that bought her to her own doom! Macbeth’s imagination and heartless character bought about his ruin! Fear is the one emotion that tends to control our lives! When we talk about the famous Steve Jobs we tend to skip the part of how he would have felt when he was thrown out of his own company, the fear that would run through his body when he thought about how he would now support his family! We fail to think of how if fear would have dominated Bill Gates’ life, would Microsoft have ever been launched? Would we today be using ones of the world’s best creations for every small and big thing we do! Would we still get to listen to the best band of all times if the Beatles would give up or postpone their deadline of practice? Think about it, if all these famous people would allow fear to dominate their lives, would we be blessed with even half the good things in the world if these famous people would let fear conquer their world? Taking on challenges, facing a crowd, clearing the deadline and feeling proud! If we let fear conquer our lives and dreams, we will only be clinging on to see the fate of life’s will! Reaching for something in the distance, thinking about the climb, release your inhibition to conquer the time! To stand before you today, wasn’t as easy as it looks, getting out of the comfort zone of my class, facing a whole new crowd of unknown faces the fear of the stage, the fear of being accepted and the fear of being judged, I went through it all! Yet today I stand before you, because I’ve learnt the art of overcoming my fears, facing them and treating them as my strengths, and moving on in life growing as an individual.Fears have to be fought out, and not thought about! Don’t change to the reverse gear because of fear, that the line that you were supposed to cross become s a dot. © 2014 Chandini HemdevAuthor's Note
