Africa Mine

Africa Mine

A Poem by Chaka2lu

The sun cannot set on my beauty.  My skin was forged from the deepest bronze.  My eyes mined of the purest obsidian.  My hair black, thick, and covers my head like a halo.  My soul glows.  The ocean moves with the sway of my hips.  The world turns with the blow of my breath.  My full lips are a gift from the land of Mother.  My nostrils large to inhale the scent of Her.  You made me.  You sent me across the immenseness of blue into the evils of red, white, and blue.  I forgive you for sending me away.  Do you forgive me for not returning?  I desire you still.  Do you still find me beautiful though my blood is tainted?  Then I must find beauty in myself and all who followed.  Why do your greens, reds, Black and yellows haunt me day, and when I seek it, night?  You are me and I am you.  Know my beauty and worship me as you have my ancestors, predecessors, my friends and my mother.  I will prove worthy of your love; your acceptance.  I will love thee and show thee the true meaning of forgiveness, geniality, forbearance, and honor.  I am woman; the first woman.  I am beautiful and desired.  I am Mother Earth.  I am Africa, the new.
