Oh God, Turn Me Into a Stone

Oh God, Turn Me Into a Stone

A Poem by Blackbird
"

Holy Squawk!

"

This life of mine

Is dull and no longer shines

The smell of the dirt, grime, and cracked bone

Oh God, turn me into a stone

I've fought and I've fought

But it was all for not

So lay me to your ground, all alone

And listen as I scream and groan

You're a scam, a fake,

You're a god who preys,

You're incessant with that tone,

Why won't you turn me into a stone

Let the moss and years age me

Then tear my body limb from limb

I'll crack and it'll be fine

Cause my life will be no longer mine

The forest will welcome my platitudes

The waves will wash my sin

The mountains will name me Jude

They'll hide me within

I've tried and I've tried

You've laid and you've lied

And in the end, who knew?

I'm the rock in god's shoe.
