I would, but...

I would, but...

A Poem by Chad Hollingsworth

One cannot re-define

Those things embedded in our minds

But one can seek deeper meaning

If he will simply remove the ceiling

One cannot re-move

The mire and the muck

The parasites that suck

The marrow of my life

Sowing seeds of hatred and strife

It seems as if I’ve allowed for too long

All the wrong…things to persist.

One cannot re- position

Himself in a hopeless inquisition

Because the situation is much too dire.

But,

One can re-discover,

Truth beneath the covers of self and greed,

Disseminate the right seeds

Sowing seeds of love given by words of inspiration from above

Which is why the ceiling of our minds when lifted

Reveals all things that are gifted to unworthy servants

Though peasant I am,

I will not stay down

I will instead stand up

Exposing my thoughts now bankrupt

And allow all that is good and pure

To re-secure my own true meaning of life.
