Willow Bank

Willow Bank

A Poem by Charlotte Wensleydale

Willow Bank

Down the weir

My conscience flows,

And out beyond,

Between the banks

Of willow trees

That lie beside

The water’s flow.

Down beneath

The bridge it flows,

Where once before

Between us then

A glance had gone,

And words that rang

Around my head.

Down the years

My river flows

And out into

The waiting bay,

Past all those banks

Of willow trees

And our imagination.
