Resolution

A Poem by Charlotte Wensleydale

The year runs out
Before the dusk,
The sands it bears,
Like falling leaves,
Fall down upon the earth.

And all is silent
Down below the storms
That rage above my head;
The year still rages on
With all its dying song.

The stars above are silent,
As the stars below are lit,
Your light no longer blazes,
Dearest ghost, your star is lost
Among ten thousand more.

"Your light no longer blazes", as the year comes to an end. The feelings your lines give me are of loss. The end of something which burned brightly, that has now been extinguished. May be time to turn the page with the beginning of a new year. Lovely poetic expression.
