Of Morning Stars and Broken Skies

Of Morning Stars and Broken Skies

A Poem by Charlotte Wensleydale
"

for Danny

"

My morning star, farewell, for evening falls,
The colours of my dusk are breaking forth,
As one last blast of glory raises its voice,
Before the final dimming of its light.

And though your light will shine another day
To herald some new dawn awash with colour,
My day is drawing now to its last hour,
For now your light is nowhere to be seen.

So shine on now through days and times to come,
Announce the dawning of some coming time,
For someone else’s dawn awaits your gaze,
And someday, they must glimpse your gentle light.

My time is past, and I must fade away,
For every day embraces the coming night,
And so, my morning star, I take my leave,
As one last blaze of colour fades away.

This is beautifully penned. Ten beats per line, four line stanzas. An accomplished write. I enjoyed the read. Thank you.
