Ch. 58: The Flames Arrive

So Yami walked out of his home

And out into the bazaar that laid before him

The fruits of so many laborers

Smell sweet in the early air.

Life couldn’t have been better for

The young hero,

Well, ok, it could always be better

From the god that lurked within his mind

And from his many travels through time and

Space of how good life can be,

If only one were willing to put in that time

As well as the extra effort.

So he couldn’t argue

As he strolled on out that day

Maybe he should have stayed inside

But then again, maybe it wouldn’t have made

Any change to what was about to occur

In that square that day.

As he was about to look at what was on sale

The fire began to erupt in the center

Innocent at first

But grew and grew very quickly

Yami looked at it with dread

Why did it have to follow him

He didn’t want to fight anymore

But to just live in peace

He did train for this moment

As to not be completely caught off guard

However he didn’t want to ruin

All the work he put into

Helping create this city

Or of leading the sheep to their demise.

So he hid in the meantime

Within the shadows,

Understanding of their actions

Having done extensive research

In the next villages overs’ library

Where the scholar’s had gathered much information

To learn of all the burnings

To figure out if they were connected

To the ones he had escaped from

And the ones that were murmured at night.

He couldn’t see much from the smoke,

That had soon erupted into flames,

From all around corner

However could feel their presence

As they bellowed out

“Would the one named Chronos come forth”

As the very villages that Yami

Grew accustomed to as neighbors

Now ran, fleeing the town

Out of dire need to live past this moment.

‘Well, guess we don’t have a choice here,

But to go and deal with these pests

That seem to think that they can lay this village

To waste by their puny sparks.’ Chronos whispered

To Yami as he stepped out of the shadows,

Once again back in the hot seat

For the first time since that time

Against Keres up on Mount Oylumpus.
