Chapter 49: The Battle of Mt. Olympus

Chapter 49: The Battle of Mt. Olympus

A Chapter by Ceuthonymus

Artemis was finally gaining back

Consciousness as the man continued

To hurtle on forward

Heading for the mountain of fables

The glorified mountain

From the myths of heroes and gods,

Mount Olympus.

It loomed overhead

Demanding respect

Of any who passed by

Intimidating as ever

Full of power over everything that lived.

Artemis felt at home here

She was close to the wild

And yet to her birth place

That nothing seemed to matter

Then it hit her,

Someone was carrying her

She began to struggle

Against this person

Not knowing who it was.

“Stay still for a moment longer

You are almost home.”

Was what the man said.

But she ignored him

And continued to struggle.

“Look, let me go!”

She demanded

And yet the man kept on going

Ignoring what she said

Ignoring her kicks and pushes

Of protest and revolt

‘Gainst whomever this person was.

“Hey, don’t move

Or else she will come

And you really don’t want to

Meet her, since

She only seeks your blood

And my very own death

So if I was you,

I would just stop moving

Be limp if possible

But just stop.”

Was what he told her

In that stern, fatherly voice.

It shocked Artemis

For it reminded her

Of one person

Yet he wasn’t that person

She know at the moment.

He was someone else

Whom did seem familiar

Yet foreign,

Different for lack of better words.

“Look, don’t worry

Remember that I am the reason

You are out here afterall.”

Was all he said

Before it clicked to her.

“But how?

You were just a child

And now you are a man.”

Artemis claimed

Unable to accept the words

That the man had given to her.

“It is simple enough

For you see,

I am Chronos

God of time

I control it

In all of its forms

Even the aging process

Of an individuals body.

And so I did it to my own to escape

The very pain that was inflicted to me

Along with making myself stronger

In order to finish this journey

And to make it home again.”

Was what he responded with

As he continued to run forwards

The mountain coming closer

And closer yet.

Artemis looked up at it

In time to see the hoards

Of warriors climbing down it,

Making their move in

This chess match between

All the different pawns

But unaware of who the two players were.
