The People of Death Row

The People of Death Row

A Chapter by Ceuthonymus

I wake up

From cursed dreams

To those who were in them

Pounding on my door

Demanding me to step out

To leave the darkness

That I find to be safe,

To be liberating

From their wretched sight

To be freeing

From their thoughts

To be warm

Compared to their cold glares

Judging me.

As I take each step

Walking the side walk

Along with anyone else

Saying the same things as they do

Yet I am the one who

Is the one they mock

The one that they call

The fool in their conversations

The laughing stalk

Of the school

Yet I say the same things

That they do

Yet they only judge me.

What did I do

To deserve this judgement?

How come only I

Go through this hell

While they all dance

Over my dead corpse?

To hell with them

Is what I say

As I open the door

Gun in hand

Noose around thy neck

Blood shot eyes glaring

Mouth gaped open

As I laugh manically

Over what is to be

Your wasted life

Since I can’t stand the sight

Of another person any longer

Since it is society that rejects

That only laughs

And attempts to make fun o’ me

So here you go

Right back at ya

As I send this place

Up in a blaze

Blowing everyone away

As I pull the trigger

While my noose tugs tighter

Around my neck,

Leaving marks on me

As you have left marks

Inside my memories.
