Chapter 5: The Escape onto the Cursed Journey of Odysseus

Chapter 5: The Escape onto the Cursed Journey of Odysseus

A Chapter by Ceuthonymus

The child was filled with fear

As the battle cries filled the city state.

Where do i go?

He thought to himself,

Nothing but soldiers and those

Who are about to die are all that

Fill this doomed city that is beyond broken.

Looking around a voice came forth once again

'Head for the sea,

It is your only hope of escape from this cursed city.

Go now, or parish like the rest of your family.'

The boy looked around, calling out to whomever

This wise voice belonged to.

'Do not ask or cause yourself to grab

Unwanted attention.

Just think, and your questions shall be answered.'

The boy quickly moved forward,

Hearing the soldiers moving onto him

And thought of who this voice was.

However, the answer did not arise,

Remaining unanswered.

The docks were full of sound and noises

The child soon forgetting the voice as he

Faced a new conflict.

The soldiers from all of their foreign parts of Greece

Were too busy to pay much attention to him

As they focused on departure.

They had finished their business

And wished after so long of a stay

To return to their homes and to be

Reunited with their families.

The child saw barrels being rid of

Thrown into the sea and floating away.

Far away from this cursed city.

He rushed off into the darkness of the beach

And headed into the ocean

In search of a barrel,

To hid in one and to float on out of there.

But they all floated to far from him to get a hold of

And he wished to not go any further out or risk

Grabbing attention from unfriendly soldiers.

So he slinked up the beach

Heading towards the soldiers,

But remaining in the shadows.

The soldiers were going through these barrels

That the child soon discovered to be full of sweet wine

And one such barrel had just been finished.

The child took one second

And rashly jumped into the barrel

That was next to one of the drunken soldiers.

But thank some force of nature

For none noticed this diving child

As all were too drunk and happy to care

For all would be returning to their peaceful homes

Far away from this wretched place.

But one such man came down to the docks

And headed to the drunks, barking orders.

"We shall soon be home,

Back to Ithaca!"

The men all listened as they cheered on this man,

Grand and bright Odysseus, hero of old.

His horrid journey would start soon,

But unknown to any, his would be extremely shorter

Then that of this doomed child

Who shall wander this earth

Until hope died and a war would be finishing him off.

But enough of that,

For now, they sail off

Into the peaceful sea of monsters and demons

Of tests and challenges

And of the beginning of finding the truth

That shall put this mysterious voice free.
