Chapter 2: The Birth of the Hero

Chapter 2: The Birth of the Hero

A Chapter by Ceuthonymus

And all the while

A poor fatherless boy

Watch’s all of this

From the window

In the wall

In the house atop the hill.

A tear trickles down his check

The loss felt deep within

And soon he watches the men

Following that women and man

That had killed his father

And march towards his home,

Ready to kill any and all

That lives inside its walls.

The boy went out

To try and warn his family

But it was too late.

The door falls down

And the men rush in

With their swords unsheathed

Ready to kill him

His mother lets out a cry

And his sister begins to cry out of fear

For she doesn't understand what is happening

For she is so young

So full of innocence.

The boy runs away

Running back to his room

Grabbing the very thing his father left him

A ring.

One that is the very center of this entire tale

The thing that starts all wars

Including this one

And shall create so many more

Where everyone fights in a losing battle

Over what that ring holds within.

He runs out through the window

And down the hill

Only to be surrounded by soldiers

Looking down at him

With snarled and wicked smiles

Twisted with evil intent.

The boy wearing the ring

Praying to the gods for help

For some kind of hope.

His father said they would answer if he was wearing that ring

But having nothing happen.

The men all moving in on him

'I can help'

The voice rings out

Like sharp ice dropping from the heavens

And shattering on the cold pavement.

'Yes, help me gods!'

The boy yells out

The men all laugh

For none of the gods will save him

From this poor fate that awaits him.

Then time slows

Oddly enough

And the boy loses control over his body

It acts on its own

Grabbing a man around the neck

And making a snapping noise

As he falls down, dead.

His vision is becoming blurred

And soon he losses consciousness.
