Success - Cal and AlsonA Story by CenturyWell Cal is one of my Original Characters, and I love him to death. Alson is newish. I think I'm just going to do a series of little random occurrences with these two, cause they're so funny.Calitan Percheron wasn’t your every day, fluffy, college student. As a matter of fact, he was quite the opposite. With a generally pessimistic outlook on life, he tends to shy away from the company of large groups of people and would much rather hole up in his dorm to complete his homework. He was intimidating as well, with jet black hair, and odd eyes. His left eye a light ice blue in contrast with his azure right. So it is only natural that someone with such a dark personality had a best friend such as Alson Tehara. “So Cal do you want to come to the movies with us tonight?” “No.” “What about when we go out to dinner tomorrow?” “No.” “Do you want to go for a walk with me?” “No.” “Do you want to kill puppies with me during the witching hour?” This caught Calitan’s attention, but alas, “No.” “My god you are such a bummer!” “I like it that way.” “B***h.” “Unicorn.” “That isn’t even an insult Cal…” “Alson, your presence is an insult.” Alson glared. Despite his maltreatment, Alson had a certain soft spot for Calitan, and was sure that Calitan liked him too. Well… maybe. “I just think you should get out more!” Alson said, standing up and ruffling Cal’s hair good-naturedly. He was stiff under the touch. “I mean, seriously dude, all you do is sit there at your desk, doing homework or writing.” The dirty-blonde boy leaned down to be face-to-face with Calitan, “I can see through your skin.” he whispered. Cal narrowed his eyes. “No.” “I didn’t even ask you a question!” “Well you were going to.” Cal said in a level voice, highlighting a section in his textbook. “Cal…” Alson got down on one knee and grabbed Calitan’s hands into his, “Please. Come for a fifteen minute walk with me. I promise if the sun starts melting off your skin, I’ll take you back inside.” “Will you leave me alone?” “For the rest of the night, yes.” Alson agreed, hope welling in his eyes. Calitan was thinking. “Fine. Fifteen minutes.” Cal got up violently scraping his chair on the floor and Alson shouted with delight. The two young men slipped on hoodies, Calitan’s black and Alson’s the color of caramel. Despite their differences, Calitan and Alson seemed to be two halves of a whole, and often felt incomplete when the other wasn’t around. After three years of friendship, their feelings for each other were often penetrated with something more, but neither would admit to it. So they went through every day in a fitful manner, arguing and bickering but still loving each other. Alson took a deep breath of the spring air, spreading his arms wide. He turned to grin at Calitan who was looking straight forward, frowning. Cal didn’t vocalize it, but the warm sun felt good on his skin and he felt slightly invigorated by the fresh air. He had been cooped up in his dorm since Friday evening, leaving once to get food. Alson had brought him his meals on all other occasions. With finals coming up, he felt playtime was inessential. “Oh I knew you’d like it out here.” Alson said in a self-satisfied manner. “You should savor the outdoors more, maybe you wouldn’t be so grumpy.” Calitan rolled his eyes. “Nothing, can stop me from being grumpy.” he said, though there was a dry humor in his voice. After that they walked quietly, the need for words fading. They went back to their dorm just as the sun began to set. As soon as they walked through the door, Calitan stripped his hoodie away and sat back down to his studying. Alson sighed, and plopped down on his bed, the warm air had made him drowsy. He fell asleep and woke up half an hour later. “What time is it?” “5:45.” Calitan said sternly. Alson groaned and sat upright, throwing a pillow at Calitan’s back. The pillow hit but Calitan didn’t respond. “Okay, well I’ve got to meet my people at the movies. Are you sure you don’t want to come?” Alson asked hopefully, suddenly not wanting to leave the company of his roommate. Calitan didn’t reply, which Alson knew to mean no. “Alright… well it starts at 6:30 if you change your mind.” he sighed. Stuffing his cell phone in his pocket, Alson had his hand on the doorknob when Calitan spoke suddenly. “What movie are you seeing?” Alson was just about to open his mouth to reply honestly when an idea came to him. “I don’t know what it’s called, but it’s some horror flick that looks excessively disturbing. You’d probably like it.” Alson lied. There was a short pause, and Calitan’s chair scraped across the linoleum of their floor. “I’ll come.” He sighed, though sounding as if it would hurt him profusely. Alson grinned to himself.
