A memorial poem

As the sun has set on this brand new horizon
I lay your body into the ground
Under that brand new tree in the backyard
It's windy today you know
In your final resting place
In this old desert
I'll always remember you
Man's best friend
A part of my family
Goodbye.

Author's Note

My dog passed away last night, and we buried him this morning. He was about thirteen to fourteen years old. My best friend and my very first dog. It had indeed been a sad day.

Followed friends here and glad I did.
Not to feel a shiny nose surpise your hand
Not to feel a paw suddenly appear where it shouldn't
Not to see those eyes that say that had been left alone long enough so it is obviously mine and I decided to tear it to small pieces.

Sometimes in work like this it is easy to miss the quality of the write. Not so here.

i am so very sorry ..i dog lover myself i do know what a loss it is ..best friend, companion and always believes ... so very sorry .. he had a good long live and his resting place close by can in time bring his miracle gift back to you everyday ..love and hugs my dear friend

Omg E! and Centipedle - I just watched the new movie 'A Dog's Purpose' - having lost a pet also I think it helped me deal with the grief.

:( will have to check that out Tony ..thanks .. Bella is 8 yrs sold and has life expectancy of 8-10 yrs .. i think she will hit 14 but can not help but experience preparatory grieving from time to time .. just don't know how that will go :(((
