Pyschology

If a tree falls in the middle of the forest
And no one is around to hear it
Does it make a sound?

Sound is only a concept of a human mind.
So no, it does not.

It questions the existence of ourselves and how we perseeve.
There is nothing to fear.
Just everything to explore.

What do you think? I studied 2 years of psychology back in highschool and it's probably one of my favorite subjects.... though it's not very popular among a lot of people. Anyway I enjoy it at least.

Psychology is great. If you know it you can learn people.

However, let us look at what sound is and the definition of what it is:

Sound:
1. vibrations that travel through the air or another medium and can be heard when they reach a person's or animal's ear.

2. sound produced by continuous and regular vibrations, as opposed to noise.

Now, psychologically we do not hear this sound that is emitted when said tree fall. So, hence no it does not make a sound.

But scientifically, yes the tree does make a sound.

I do love psychology and science they are both fun and great subjects.

You may be a psych type, but I'm a scientific type. "Sound" is NOT only a concept of the human mind. It's pressure waves that physically move thru the air, creating sound whether those waves bounce off any eardrums or not. But aside from that technicality, I do appreciate that you're presenting your point of view, which is well-stated & thought-provoking. I definitely agree that perception is a significant part of each of our senses. By the way, misspelled "perceive" (3rd stanza/1st line).

i say it does .. tho not a witness, i have heard them fall outside my door ;) what i can not say is whether anything exists behind me .. if not for hearing .. your prose touches the line that science will not cross, i think. questioning our existence most assuredly leads one to faith and spirit .. soul it you will ... sp? "perseeve" ;) one of my sons, one of my daughters and a daughter-in-law have psychology majors ... not much one can do with just that ...so my son and daughter added other majors as well and my daughter-in-law is working on her masters .. hard to get a job with just psychology .. thank you for raising the question .. i think it is more philosophical than psychological tho. top o' the mahrnin' to ya Centipedle!
