Red Water Preview

Medieval times

Long ago there was a moon spirit known at Serci. Serci fell in love with a woman in the land of snow. Bearing two moon children. While one was a blazing fire, the other was as cold as ice. The daughter, born of fire, was named Redakai. The son, born of ice, was name Hataki. Redakai was born with an outgoing and fervent personality, while her brother had been born blind and very calm. 

The twins were close to each other, despite their differences. Redakai covered Hataki's weaknesses. Soon it seemed, the sun was waning. Serci saw his counterpart fall, when the time came - Redakai was forced to take over the duty of the sun. Leaving Hataki to be trained by his father. As their mother, a mortal after all, faded away soon after the great darkness came.

Redakai returned balance to the world, unable to see her twin brother ever again. Hataki took over his father's duty as deity of the moon. The two often circle each other, in the hopes of one day catching up. 

Stories and legends of lost magic and gods. They are told for generations down to the kids of the royal family of Red Water. As Illiad approaches her wedding with the prince of Silverwater, she holds this legend her mother told her deep in her mind. Though, she doesn't prepare or expect for anything to go wrong. 

Author's Note

An old story series that I'm bringing back to life entirely new! I'm excited for this I've always loved old stories with kings and queens and recently have been rewatching game of thrones so I figured I'd pull this out of the water. I even made a map for it!

The darker portion of water is a sacred river known as the spirits river, it's forbidden to drink from it saying that it hold the old spirits of the deceased.

Neat little preview here. Love Game of Thrones and I'm a hundred pages into the fifth book and all caught up with the show. I favor the books over the show, though the most recent episode was the best the show has been in some time! Anyway, I love the map and it so reminds me of the fantasy genre at its best. You should read The Witcher series if you haven't. Not everything is fully out in English yet, but a good chunk is and they're so worth reading.

This has good promise and potential, I'm intrigued to see how you bring the characters and their world to life.

Sounds like a great setup for more storytelling. I liked how the moon children had personalities that matched their physical characteristics--good symbolism. Look forward to seeing what you do with this.

COOL... haven't seen Game of Thrones, but I'm a huge Lord of the Rings fan and just watched Thor and loved it, so this sounds like my kind of thing. :) The map is neat too. Can't wait to see where this goes!

Fun! I get excited when I see a map in the front of a book, but even moreso I love a good mythology, and it seems like the premise of your story relies on it. There's not a lot here to say what the action of the story will really contain, but I'm intrigued nonetheless. The sacred river sounds fun to read about, too. I'm guessing Redwater and Silverwater have something to do with the Sun and the Moon? If you decide to start writing it, I'll absolutely read it!

strong start ..your preview is short and gives me a little history as well as new characters and times that are emerging ... love the map ..i am a long time fan of Tolkien and the addition of maps is a real plus for me ..putting all the magical characters and creatures in on spot as they move and travel about ..
