The Last Glance

The Last Glance

A Poem by Celestia
"

Eyes are the window to the soul

"
Eyes won't lie, do they? Or don't they?
When two gazes searching for each other
Now turned to two sights that never stay
Refusing to meet, yet still tangled with one another.

Whether it was a love so dreamy in broad daylight
Or an infatuation drawing the curtain over the window,
It was a waltz against time, twirling in the moonlight
Glances now astray, filled with an unmistakable sorrow.

She glided along the ballroom floor, hand in hand, eye in eye-
He stumbled along the cold floor, eyes looking afar,
Though unbeknownst to them, this was their last try
She was never the one, just the spare soldier in a losing war.

Many talk about the one who got away with tear-filled sighs
What about the one that was left astray? The one who waited?
Eternity came to an end, yet love never left those eyes
The crystal eyes, the prettiest muse ever painted.

He was the artist so enchanting, painting smiles
She was the muse so beloved, echoing his every word
He found her rather boring, not even worth the tries
She fought so hard, just to be left unheard.

Two individuals, beautiful eyes, fleeting gazes
The beginning never to be traced
Moving through the fog but left in the hazes
One last glance, beautiful eyes, forever erased.
