Generation ZA Poem by CelestiaAre we really moving forward?New generation, new time they say, But this generation seems to be heading the other way" Doors closed, windows shut even in the month of May, But I too am part of this fiasco, so who am I to say? Time and time again, we repeat the hurtful words, But when a woman says no, we make her feel unheard. I don't stand with the feminists either, 'Cause hating men doesn't make them any wiser. A breakup fight lasting longer than a relationship, Love almost non-existent, everyone caught up in a situationship. Is it too much to want a man without a physical relationship? But people say love is old and make outs are cool and hip. Teens cheating in exams turned into teens cheating on people, But it's the adults too, leading by example, the fault shared equal. How does it matter anything I say? Art is not appreciated anyway. So I will swear and I will cuss to be heard, Mark my word; We will all be filled with remorse and regret We won't have a story worthy of being heard when our children ask how we met. Social media taking over the world, We may be face to face but can't talk. Kids in grade school started to flirt, And we still give a phone to a baby who can't walk. World was devastated when Twitter turned into X, But don't even bat an eye before hooking up with their ex. Trust and faith seem to be a thing of the past now, And if that's true I don't want to ask how. 'Cause what's the point? All our questions left unanswered, 'Cause people are too busy smokin' a joint; All our dreams and aspirations shattered. Words like anxiety and pain becoming so common, The word happiness now rare like a diamond, 'Cause when we look at someone, It leaves our insecurities worsened. I wonder how many of us will survive, With our lungs damaged and heart broken. All we want is some peace, And a nice fresh breeze.
