Share the Burden

A Poem by Caustic_Dystopia

The world bears down, heavy on your shoulders.
It feels like you're carrying a million boulders.

You don't have to hold all that alone
Just dial my number, I'll pick up the phone.

You don't want to burden me when I've got my own weight
But I'll continue to tell you there's room on my plate.

Asking for help doesn't make you weak.
Just open your mouth and let the words speak.

I know that you're tired and it's getting hard
But you don't have to be scared (just/to) let down your guard.

Those bottles you have glued to your lips
Will only, ever, be a temporary fix.

I wanna be the person you trust with your soul
No matter how cracked, shattered, or dull.

I want to help vanquish the demons you dream
You don't have to hide your silent screams.

Forget what they've said, forget what they've done
Their words may be bullets, but you have the gun.

Quit shooting yourself, just let it go
Reach out for me when you forget how to glow.

You shine so bright, but only when you smile
So lend me your worries I can carry them awhile.
