High

High

A Poem by Caustic_Dystopia

The lighter flicks, my lungs fill with smoke
There's a slight burning in my throat.

My thoughts are a little hazy,
And everything I say sounds a bit crazy.

I finally found my remedy
The thing that let's my heart break free.

My laughs are whole hearted
The darkness has parted
I no longer feel alone.

But what goes up must come down
And soon I'm crash landing on the ground.

The good feeling disappears
And once again I'm fighting back tears.

So I light another and fade away
Saving the numbness for another day.
