Ribbon of PinkA Poem by Caustic_DystopiaToday the world stopped turning, today she got the news. Today the doctor called setting fire to the fuse. Today she went from normal to overwhelming fear. Today she went from smiles to eyes filled up with tears. Today she went from traveling a slightly bumpy road to climbing up a mountain side with an overly heavy load. Today somebody lost the battle, someone lost their fight. Today somebody else prevailed, somebody survived. Today a mother, daughter, sister, wife made it through alive. Cancer doesn't discriminate, it doesn't pick and choose. It doesn't care how tough you are, or if you easily bruise. It doesn't care how old you are: 80, 30, or two. It doesn't care about your life, or goals still left to pursue. But hope will pull her up that mountain, and anger will make her fight. Her determination may sometimes waver, but her strength will set her right. We'll love her through this weary war, we'll pray, we'll cry, we'll ask God, "why?" Her intensity we'll adore. But she's stronger than you'd ever think, standing tall with that ribbon of pink.
