Déjà VuA Poem by Caustic_Dystopia
He stood before me; hands in his hair
Nervous shuffle, restless stare An awkward exchange of name for name. Small talk, laughter, a bashful game Flash to I love you's, and long late calls Stupid little arguments that drive me up the walls. Then there's promises of forever and always Thoughts of the future in every day. Sometime later something goes wrong An unseeable force breaks what I thought was so strong. Phone calls come less and less Despair and denial eat at my chest Then the day comes when he no longer loves me The day he promised I'd never see I fall apart, shattered again A brand new scar forms on my skin. I rebuild the walls; shut out the world Stupid, stupid, stupid girl. I tell myself never again, I'm done with love I won't let it in But then I find myself in a familiar scene A little closed off 'cause I know what it means A slightly shy boy not quite sure what to do Caught in this loop of infinite déjà vu. © 2016 Caustic_Dystopia |
