Goodbye, Again

Goodbye, Again

A Poem by Caustic_Dystopia

There it is, your name on my phone
I kept praying for it now I'll reap what I've sown

I answered your message and a piece of me split.
You wanted forgiveness, but I couldn't give it

As much as I wanted to my heart is still healing
And I can't forgive something that still has me reeling

We talked for a bit through the night
And I'm not gonna lie, it felt so damn right.

There was a hurricane of emotions in my heart
And once again you lit up the dark

My heart became light and the numbness depleted
In one second flat my walls you defeated

Even in piece my heart you still control.
Each tiny shard you once again stole.

But the goodbye is lurking in the shadows
Vindictively waiting to drag me to the gallows

And with the noose around my neck I won't make a sound
My final 'I love you' I'll keep to myself as it buries me in the ground.
