The Light of Darkness

The Light of Darkness

A Poem by Caulfield
"

Together in our brokenness

"
Where is the light
Is freedom ever free
The repeating lie of whole
But our eyes will never see

Glimpses of light is all we have
There are trees blocking our route
We seek we seek we never find
Slaves to the unending pursuit

Freedom, money, family, drugs
God, sex, work, homes and cars
Idols, all idols to progress this lie
We must remove our masks and accept our scars

We all have holes in our chest
There is only temporary relief from worry
The light is dim, life is hard
Bigfoot may just be that blurry

We love to judge and feed off hate
The greatest heights are followed by a down
happiness lasts only for a breath
The grass on the other side is just as f*****g brown

Love heals but can hurt worse
Our inner thoughts filled with disgrace
Humans kill each other
Ignorance will always see race

Breathe…Let it resonate
We are all singing the same song
Open our eyes, soften our hearts
The only way to harmonize is if we all sing along

Don't believe the lie
See through the bullshit and know
That we are ALL lost
Only together does our brokenness become whole
