Do You RememberA Poem by Catti*Brewritten for A Touch of Insanity:) - in response to Murders - something happier to read.Do you remember that Sunday, in the warm afternoon Down by the river, near that swampy lagoon? Where we laughed over our homemade picnick of sweet tarts and tangerines, talking about old memories that never quite faded. How the sun shone so brightly, and the birds in the trees joined in song and as we walked to our secret place, the squirrels danced and played before our feet guiding us in the glory of the day. Do you remember how you helped me up when I tripped, laughing over the broken tree branch? How you brushed the dirt from my face, and kissed my tiny scrapes? And in the fallen leaves of Autumn, I kissed you first with a blush and a giggle I claimed you were mine, there on that Sunday down in the woods. Do you remember the years that followed after, long lived winters in our tiny little house, that you built by yourself, all for me. Do you remember the cry of a brand new baby, that would wake us in the dark of the night, tiny hands, tiny face with big sad eyes searching for our faces. Do you remember her first birthday, with the presents and the balloons, and the happy songs we sang. How she squealed in delight in every moment, and wonder, Our darling little princess was growing up so quickly. More years passed with more late nights, filled with tears, a nightmare, or thirst that could not wait to be quenched, then soon there were more late nights, where we awoke to silence and we would tip toe quietly down the hall to see our little girl with her curly hair splayed around her beautiful hair, fast asleep and dreaming of happy things. and in the next room over, was our newest little one, a little boy for you, with soft downy hair to keep his head warm, and big hazel eyes just like his daddy. Our prince so small, so beautiful. Do you remember the morning we woke up to their laughter, around the Christmas tree? As Father Christmas had brought them the most wonderful gifts. The joy and the wonder, and even the snow. It was such fun to see them all bundled up.
Do you remember the years that past so quickly after that, as they grew and grew, from tiny little children to adults almost overnight. Do you remember that? © 2009 Catti*BreReviews
