For A Friend

For A Friend

A Poem by Cassie Black
"

A boy I know has passed away recently at the young age of 17 so I wrote a poem in his honour

"
I tried to write a poem
in this time of bereavement.
I found myself lost for words
which proofs I was grieving.
All around me,
friends and family are crying
it's nice to see you were loved
and cherished in your short time.
Everyone says that they will miss you
and that you light up a room
You brought so much laughter
but now, only gloom.
I think you'd be proud
of this big turn out
It's all for you
You're all everyone talks about.
And rightly so,
It was too soon
too sudden
no one had time.
Look at that, I wrote you a poem
and it even has rhyme
Now we must say goodbye
Your time with us in done
It was too short really
17 is too young.
