The Coffee You Never Cleaned

The Coffee You Never Cleaned

A Poem by Cathy
"

Best left undescribed...

"

I tried to sell myself-

notices on cracked glass, but

no one wants things that are

broken

Something you said

over smiles and

strawberries, but I don’t

remember

Tears unseen

winding through unfamiliar

roads, but they never

end

Someone saw your

heart, they told me it

was all over the

floor

I was going to tell

you to be careful, but

I just looked in the mirror and

Laughed

He sat in the car, but

didn’t know where he was

going, and you might have

Told

I don’t spare such

delicate words to

anybody except

you

She wonders why it

happened to her, but

freedom is a

choice

Whispered promises, dropped

all over with the

coffee that you never

cleaned

It’s stopped

raining, but I guess you

don’t want to hear about

sun
