The Rejecting Path

The Rejecting Path

A Poem by Yuan
"

Written at age 16.

"

A thousand li into a journey for love,
endless crimson blood silk threads embroidered us;
Soar like swallows where immortals do above,
dust settled with dust, earth mingles with earth,
a soulmateless heart forever had searched.

If fruitful findings reward with you now,
As calligraphy written each our vow,
Together shall we stay?
when told love is but-
Loyalty, Oarless, Vital,
      Eternal,

where words of honor they never fade?

Be that suspicions and doubts would but bound,
if love could be worn as soft petals, never thorns for crowns.

Great use of words in this poem. Open the door to many questions in this short poem. Love is hard to maintain. A wise person is always positive. Keep the negative away to protect their love. A powerful poem. Made me think. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

Oarless in this sense is use as a metaphor for how unpredictable a love life between two people is, it cannot be steer as two people on a boat would be oarless and they will just have to let the current take them to where it would.
